Weather often catches everyone’s attention. It is also one of the most popular topics in conversations. But there are times that some weather events need special attention. It was a year ago when the “polar vortex” or what I prefer call it an “arctic blast” descended on Wisconsin. Below are some weather observations for Sheboygan.

Haven once base for anti-aircraft training units
Situated along the western shore of Lake Michigan, just a bit north of Sheboygan in the township of Mosel, is a tiny burg called Haven. Settled by German immigrants from the Moselle Region of Germany, the area was originally known as Seven Mile Creek.

I’d probably have the same response as 6-year-old Kaleb Allen if I had a mini hockey rink in my backyard.
“It’s really, really, really, really fun,” he said.
My father, however, wasn’t born in Vancouver like Sheboygan’s Brian Allen was.
“Growing up in Canada, that’s all you did after school is play street hockey,” he said.
Meissner makes MMA debut
Perhaps Sheboygan North’s Colby Meissner doesn’t go 5-0 at the Plymouth Wrestling Duals Jan. 4 if not for a new offseason training regimen.
One game left for Thompson
The high school football season has been long over, but Sheboygan South’s Laine Thompson still has one game left.
The junior nose guard/defensive tackle will compete in the USA Football International Bowl at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Arlington, Texas.
North’s Hayon breaks two additional pool records
Will Hayon was at it again.
The Sheboygan North sophomore set two pool records at Sheboygan South on Jan. 6 in his team’s 120-63 victory over the Redwings.
The night George Mikan came to Sheboygan
Just over 70 years ago, George Mikan and the mighty Minneapolis Lakers visited Sheboygan and were upset by the Redskins in a National Basketball Association game.
South’s Miller will play volleyball at North Central
Sheboygan South senior Hannah Miller has decided to play volleyball at North Central University in Minneapolis.
The setter played all four years on varsity and first-year Redwings’ coach Abby Sigler says it was an honor to coach her.
A’s baseball team hands out awards for past season
Sheboygan A’s shortstop Jake Falish was named the team’s most valuable player and most valuable defensive player at the annual Sheboygan Athletic Club Awards Dinner Jan. 4 at the Elks Lodge.
