Sheboygan Symphony presents “Flight” with aerial dancers Mar. 14 at 7:30 p.m.

Cycropia copyMusic Director and Conductor, Kevin S. McMahon stated, “The concert “Flight” is a truly unique event, combining two of Wisconsin’s eldest organizations, the state’s longest running orchestra along with its longest running aerial dance company.  For the first time in the Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra’s 101 seasons, a full concert of aerial dance along with symphony and choir will be presented.  Isn’t that exciting?”

This concert is filled with traditional orchestral and choral works by Bizet, Satie, Grieg, and Orff, as well as cutting edge popular music from the twentieth century, and contemporary composers such as Ludovico Einaudi, Karl Jenkins, and Ennio Morricone.

McMahon continued, “The concert includes three world premiere orchestrations, two commissioned specifically for the event, with the third premiere piece based upon a Scottish theme.”

Cycropia Aerial Dance, formed in 1989 in Madison, WI, performs throughout Wisconsin, wowing audiences with their combination of modern dance, athleticism, artistry, and the magic of defying gravity.

“Whether you are a fan of Hoagy Carmichael or Carmina Burana, or, love aerial dance or the opera Carmen, the musical and artistic program is wide, eclectic, unique, and exciting.  The aerial dancers hold center stage and the Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra and Chorus are delighted to collaborate and accompany Cycropia for this once in a lifetime event,” emphasized McMahon.

The March Concert, “Flight,” with its combination of unforgettable orchestral music and gravity-defying, breathtaking choreography, promises to be a sensory feast!

The Interludes Pre-Concert talk begins at 6:30 pm. It is a free event for concert ticket holders. Space is limited, and an R.S.V.P is required. For more information contact us at business@sheboygansymphony.org or call 920-452-1985.
