Small Wonders to close child care center Apr. 3

Small Wonders Learning Center in Sheboygan, WI, will be closing its child care center on April 3, 2020. Parents and other community partners were notified as of January 3, 2020, providing a 90-day notice along with a list of licensed child care providers for future child care arrangements.

The Salvation Army is the administrator of the program and owns the building that houses Small Wonders Learning Center in Sheboygan. After an extensive financial review, the organization has concluded that the program is not sustainable nor has been for a few years now. Major Steve Merritt, Divisional Commander for the Wisconsin and Upper Michigan Division, states, “The Salvation Army has closed Small Wonders as we position our organization to meet the needs of the community through other services provided.  The Salvation Army’s desire is to be effective and efficient in all that we do.  We are grateful to the Sheboygan community for their support.”

The Salvation Army will be securing bids for the sale of the building in the near future. An inventory of equipment including indoor furniture, classroom supplies, and outdoor playground equipment will be made available for purchase.
