Sheboygan North graduate Jennifer Brandt can’t believe it.
“I was initially shocked, because I wrote this book more for fun,” she said. “Like, I’m not an author by trade. So it was kind of a side project. And it was an accomplishment in itself just to publish it.”
Louise Rostkowski, 74, passed away Wednesday morning, January 28, 2026 at her home in Sheboygan Falls.
On February 9, 1911 – a most ordinary Thursday morning 115 years ago this week – three local women boarded a Lake View streetcar on North 8th Street in Sheboygan. Minutes later, as one of the saddest tragedies in Sheboygan history unfolded, they lost their lives in the frigid, iced-over Sheboygan River.
Patrick Parr, an author, historian and Lakeland University-Japan faculty member, will deliver a talk about Malcom X and Martin Luther King entitled “The Individual and the Community” in the Campus Center Event Space on Thursday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m. The talk is free and open to all.
