For the first time in 10 years, North’s softball program has a four-time all-conference player thanks to senior Ally Wagner.
“I think it’s pretty crazy,” she said. “But it didn’t really feel like I did anything different, I was still playing the same game I’ve always played.
Wagner, and teammates Mara Babak and Ali Oehldrich, each received all-Fox River Classic Conference honorable mention.
Wagner, an outfielder who was voted the Golden Raiders most valuable player, led her squad with a .352 batting average and 17 runs batted in in league games.
She says she will miss being a leader as well as the competition.
“I just feel like high school softball is a much more different atmosphere than travel softball,” Wagner said.
Babak, a sophomore shortstop, did not play last season because of an injury.
She finished with a team-high 17 runs to go with a .348 average, one home run and eight RBI.
Oehldrich, a senior infielder, had a team-high seven doubles and hit .294 in the league.
She also spent four seasons on varsity.
“The two seniors are going to be very, very tough to replace,” coach Chris Lenz said. “But I’m looking forward to Mara continuing her junior and senior seasons.”
