Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra prepares for 103rd season

SHEBOYGAN — The Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra will open its concert season on Saturday, October 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Stefanie H. Weill Center for the Performing Arts. This is the first in-person performance for the SSO since February 2020.

This first concert of the SSO’s 103rd season features conductor Rebecca Smithorn, the first of four finalists for the next SSO Music Director.

“I’m thrilled to be conducting the wonderful musicians of the Sheboygan Symphony for our October concert. We’ll be performing classic orchestral works by Brahms and Sibelius, iconic American music by Aaron Copland, and the U.S. premiere of Oana Varidanu’s Genesis, a work which I was fortunate to hear on a recent trip to Romania and am excited to share with Sheboygan audiences. I’m looking forward to a great concert!” says Smithorn.

All audience members will have the opportunity to provide feedback on Smithorn and the other conductors after each concert to help the SSO make its final decision in May.
