Harvest on Wheels to benefit meal program

SHEBOYGAN — Crisp morning air, changing leaves and a cornucopia of goodness being gathered from farm fields throughout the area ignite the need for fall delicacies.

Harvest on Wheels, a gourmet curbside meal pick-up event sponsored by Acuity to benefit Fresh Meals On Wheels of Sheboygan County is the answer.

“We have not hosted an in-person event for two years. Harvest on Wheels is a way we can help generate funds for those most in need in our community,” said Kelly Anderson, CEO of Meals On Wheels of Sheboygan County.

On the menu for this one-time event is a choice between Cider Braised Beef or Butternut Squash Ravioli. Both meals come in portions to feed two and include a side item, along with two dinner rolls, a harvest salad for two, and two gourmet desserts: one pumpkin pillow and one cranberry cheesecake. The cost is $48 per entrée for two and the proceeds provide nourishing food to seniors and homebound individuals in Sheboygan County.

The Cider Braised Beef was created with help from Miesfeld’s Meat Market, is flavored with apple gravy, and served with root vegetable mashed potatoes. The Butternut Squash Ravioli is a veggie lovers delight nestled in a hazelnut honey-butter sauce with fall spices and served with balsamic roasted Brussel sprouts.

Orders must be placed by October 20, for pick up on Friday, October 29. To place an order visit FreshMealsOnWheels.org/events by Oct 20. Pickup times are confirmed via email and will be between Noon and 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29.
