The Sheboygan Red Raiders’ hockey season came to an end Thursday with a loss in the second round of the playoffs and the state swim meet was held over the weekend.

But there are still a handful of sports whose playoffs are just getting underway:

  • On Tuesday, girls basketball teams open the post season. Tenth-seeded Sheboygan Christian visits Green Bay NEW Lutheran and No. 12 Sheboygan Lutheran travels to Hilbert for first-round Division 5 regional games. On Friday, Division 1 action starts with No. 9 Sheboygan North going to Brookfield East and No. 14 Sheboygan South heading to Appleton East.
  • On Thursday, the State Wrestling Tournament begins in Madison and will include any area athletes who qualified last weekend at sectionals (after the Beacon’s deadline).
  • On Saturday, the Sheboygan co-op gymnastics team competes in the Hartford Sectional after placing sixth last season.
  • On March 3, boys basketball playoffs get underway and Sheboygan Lutheran looks to repeat as Division 5 state champion.
