1,741 participants took steps against hunger Saturday, November 23, at the 3rd Annual Holiday Lights Hunger Run/Walk at Evergreen Park in Sheboygan.

Participation in the run/walk was a sharp jump from last year’s 1,271.

Santa’s Workshop tent, near the Quarryview Center, offered family-friendly activities and refreshments, and an opportunity to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Again this year, 3 Sheeps Brewing hosted the event’s award ceremony. Music was provided by Riley Haupt.

A number of people and organizations came together to fight hunger in Sheboygan County, including Making Spirits Bright, 3 Sheeps Brewing, the event’s committee members, volunteers, area businesses, sponsors, and everyone who joined in to run or walk.

2019 marks the 8th year of Making Spirits Bright’s drive-through holiday lights show. It will be open daily, starting the day after Thanksgiving (Friday, November 29) and ending New Year’s Eve (Tuesday, December 31). It is open from 5 – 9 p.m., except for Christmas Eve (Friday, December 24).

Admission to the park and Making Spirits Bright is free, but people are encouraged to donate pantry items. Making Spirits Bright is the Sheboygan County Food Bank’s largest food drive! Nearly a half million pounds of pantry items have been collected since the event started in 2012. 2019’s goal is 100,000 pounds.
