Albright to intern at Augusta

Josh Albright, a crew leader at Whistling Straits, will begin an internship at Augusta National Golf Club in August.

“Watching (The Masters) on TV was just crazy,” the 22-year-old Howards Grove graduate (2014) said. “It still feels unreal. It took over a week for it to really sink in that I’m going to be working at this absolutely beautiful, astonishing course.”

This past January to March, he was in an accelerated program called “professional golf turf management school” at Rutgers University.

Albright also needed an internship, so he looked online and saw a link for the course in Georgia.

“I definitely thought my odds weren’t that good,” he said. “Augusta National is world renowned, so yeah, I figured just why not try?”

It was the only place Albright applied, and after two interviews over the phone and Skype, he recently found out through email he was offered the internship.

Albright returns to Rutgers in January to finish school.

Ryder Cup registration open

Registration is now open for spectators interested in purchasing individual tickets to the 2020 Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits September 22-27.

Registration, at RyderCup.com, goes until Sept. 13 for the opportunity to purchase tickets through the PGA of America’s random selection process.

Options and pricing for tickets will be announced this summer. Once the process is complete in October, all applicants will be notified via email whether or not they have been randomly selected for the opportunity to purchase tickets.
