Whether Sheboygan Lutheran advanced to the boys state basketball tournament or not, the Crusaders still have one year left with standout Jacob Ognacevic.
The junior, who played Saturday in a sectional final (results can be found at SheaboyganBeacon.com), broke the school’s single-season rebounding record on March 2 that was set by Sam Dekker (383) in 2012.
“It just felt great,” Ognacevic said. “He’s obviously the best player that’s ever played at Lutheran, so it just felt good to break that.”
Ognacevic, who is gretting recruited by several Division I schools including Iowa, Butler, Creighton, Belmont and Loyola-Chicago, is the latest athlete to participate in “20 Questions.”
Q: If you were principal for a day, what would you do?
A: I would change the dress code at my high school so we could wear jeans and sweatpants.
Q: What’s the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?
A: I carved my name out on my dresser. I wrote Jacob on it.
Q: If you could be anything in the world when you ‘grow up,’ what would it be?
A: A Christian leader.
Q: Tell me a hidden talent you have.
A: I’m pretty good at memorizing songs.
Q: What was the most embarrassing moment for you in any sport?
A: Probably in middle school getting my ankles broke (a term referring to defense).
Q: How would you survive without a cell phone for a day?
A: Uh, I couldn’t.
Q: Name the best restaurant in the area.
A: Jimmy John’s, because I really like the ‘Turkey Tom’ there and it’s close to school.
Q: Favorite movie?
A: Probably Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. I’ve always been a big Star Wars fan and I like how Darth Vader turned into a good guy at the end and killed Emperor Palpatine.
Q: What is the one TV show you always have to watch?
A: The Office.
Q: Name the best band or musician of all time.
A: J. Cole
Q: What is the song you enjoy the most but are afraid to admit?
A: Probably Rhianna and a few songs of hers.
Q: How would you describe your bedroom?
A: Pretty clean, for the most part. I’ve got some stuff from Lutheran, like our team picture (on the wall), I’ve got some Red Sox pennants and pictures, some Celtics’ posters, and that’s about it.
Q: If you won the lottery, what would you do?
A: Put all the money into the bank and make some smart investments.
Q: Name the video game no one can beat you at.
A: Red Dead Redemption 2 because I’ve been playing it for a long time.
Q: What school subject do you hate?
A: Science. It’s pretty hard and I don’t really enjoy it that much.
Q: What celebrity do you have a crush on?
A: Vanessa Hudgens or Sommer Ray.
Q: Favorite and least-favorite athlete?
A: Favorite is Tom Brady and Rajon Rondo. Least favorite is probably Kobe (Bryant)
Q: What is the biggest pet peeve or superstition you have?
A: People tapping their desk with a pencil or something, or tapping their foot. That happens a lot in class and it annoys me.
Q: What is a story you’ll still be talking about at your 25th reunion?
A: Hopefully when we win state this year.
Q: What’s the best Christmas gift you’ve received?
A: My Xbox One from about three Christmases ago. I’m a gamer and I like to play a lot of video games.
