Construction on the Broughton Marsh’s next big addition missed its due date, but the marsh’s friends are working hard to get it started before the year is through.

Friends of the Sheboygan County Broughton Marsh is a nonprofit formed in 2004 for the purpose of promoting increased usage of the Broughton Marsh. Its first project was an 80-foot observation tower. Fundraising for the project began in 2006, and the tower was constructed in 2009. It still stands as Wisconsin’s tallest wooden observation tower.

GREENBUSH — The first shovelfuls of dirt have been dug on State 23 for its four-lane expansion, and work started in full on Monday, May 13.

On Wednesday, May 8, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) held a groundbreaking ceremony at the Wade House Historic Site in Greenbush, Wis. Alongside various county, state and WisDOT officials, Governor Tony Evers was present. He delivered a speech before partaking in the ceremony.

SHEBOYGAN – Despite misgivings from one supervisor, the County Board Tuesday unanimously approved a driveway request for the Kohler Co.’s proposed Straits Chapel on the Lake Michigan bluff in the town of Mosel.

When Abbie Testaberg married her husband, Jody, in 2010, she told him to quit his job. He had been working for a medical marijuana co-operative in California when the couple met in Wisconsin.

“I wanted him to forget what he was good at and passionate about and get a real job and we could move on with our lives,” Testaberg said.

While the advancement of global positioning system (GPS) technology is a major source of convenience, it is also a cause for concern.

In March 2019, James Muns of La Crosse was arrested under several charges for allegedly stalking and harassing a woman. These charges include two counts of misuse of a GPS device: “place without consent” and “obtain information.” A GPS tracker was found on the victim’s car, where it had allegedly been placed without her knowledge.

SHEBOYGAN – The child welfare crisis is the greatest issue facing Sheboygan County – and should be as well for state government.

County Administrator Adam Payne made that statement in his report at the April County Board meeting and supervisors made the same case earlier in the month at their monthly breakfast meeting with local legislators.
