Lights Run nets $75,000 for Food Bank

Sheboygan County Food Bank’s 4th Annual Holiday Lights Hunger Run/Walk fundraising event was held on Saturday, November 20.

A total of 1,922 runners and walkers took steps against hunger. Thanks to dedicated committee, sponsors, partners, volunteers, and participants, over $75,000 was raised, which is more than the first three years of the event combined.

The Holiday Lights Hunger Run/Walk in Evergreen Park is Sheboygan County Food Bank’s primary, annual fundraiser event where participants enjoy an exclusive, on-foot “sneak peek” of Making Spirits Bright’s holiday lights displays. Staff and dedicated community members organize the event as a committee, while local businesses and organizations provide generous in-kind donations and sponsorship commitments.

“We are overwhelmed with gratitude. Special thanks to our event co-chairs for their hard work and all of our generous sponsors, including the top sponsors, Acuity, Johnsonville, and Lake 98.1 – WLKN, and event sponsor, Making Spirits Bright. The support from this event ensures Sheboygan County families who are facing challenging times continue to receive healthy emergency food, especially during the effects of COVID-19”, said Patrick Boyle, Executive Director.

Sheboygan County Food Bank distributes free and healthy, emergency food to its network of 17 food pantries and other partner organizations throughout Sheboygan County. Thousands of families are served each month, including children, working families, seniors living off fixed incomes, veterans, and people living with disabilities and mental illnesses.
