Hittman is a hit

FRCC SWIMMING

South’s Jennifer Hittman finished third in the Fox River Classic Conference swim meet, and it is the best showing by a girl at the school since at least 2012.

The sophomore’s score was 293.45 points in the Oct. 30 meet held at Bay Port.

“She got all 11 of her dives this season by putting a lot of hard work in,” coach Lillian Stenz said. “Last season, she didn’t have 11 dives and wasn’t able to compete in those meets.

“She’s also been doing both swim and dive this year. It’s a huge role of our swim team.”

North takes third as well

The Golden Raiders 200-yard freestyle relay also placed third at the meet, compliments of Libby Cleveland, Elena Koene, Betty Quasius and Julie Renzelmann.

Cleveland finished third in the 100 backstroke, too, and was fifth in the 50 free.

Renzelmann took fourth in the 100 free and ended fifth in the 200 free.

KLF wins conference

The Kohler/Lutheran/Falls squad won the conference championship with the help of two Crusaders.

Junior Geneva Handziak took third in diving with 302.40 points after competing in gymnastics at Port Washington her first two years.

Senior Maddie Tauscheck ended fourth in the 500-yard freestyle in 6:12.20 in her fourth varsity season.
