As more people look to get out and support their local community through in-person events and activities this summer, Love INC  of Sheboygan County is planning to offer just what the doctor ordered.

In an effort to continue its mission to mobilize local Christian churches to transform lives and communities through relationships in the name of Christ, Love INC of Sheboygan County is set to hold its fifth annual Putt Fore Love event at Harbor Pointe Miniature Golf Course in Sheboygan on Saturday, July 31.

The event, which is set to run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., serves as a major fundraiser for Love INC of Sheboygan County and its continuing efforts to improve lives in Sheboygan County through a unified partnership with local Christian churches.

All proceeds from the fun-filled day of activities will benefit programs at Love INC. Located at 322 South Pier Drive, Harbor Pointe offers a prime, picturesque location for enjoying a day along the Sheboygan lakefront.

In addition to the 18 holes of mini golf, there will be raffle baskets, hole-in-one contests, a guessing game with prize and a lemonade stand run by the daughters of Harbor Pointe Miniature Golf Course owners Justin and Christy Moeller.

“The event is open to everyone and is a perfect way to spend time outdoors with friends and family,” Love INC of Sheboygan County Executive Director Tandra Sbrocco said. “It is hard to believe that this is the fifth year for this great event, which would not be possible without the support of the Moeller family. They are a family which believes in Sheboygan County and supports efforts to help people thrive in our community.

“No reservations are required for tee times,” she said. “People can just come out any time to support the event between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. on July 31st.”

For the second consecutive year, the 2021 Putt Fore Love event will again feature the Love INC Church Partner Challenge with a free night of mini golf at Harbor Pointe on the line on a selected evening in September for the top finishing partner church.

“Love INC is a partnership of 41 local Christian churches from 17 different denominations, and Harbor Pointe challenges our partner churches to an event attendance competition,” Sbrocco said. “The Love INC partner church with the most event attendees will win a free night of mini golf for the entire church congregation.

“Last year, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls won the Partner Church Challenge and enjoyed an amazing night of fellowship in September 2020,” she said. “In order to add a new twist to the challenge, each church will receive a boost in attendance numbers for each pastor who participates in a round of mini golf.

“One pastor counts as 5-10 attendance tallies, depending on the size of the church,” she said. “There will be a simple tally sheet listing the partner churches at the cash register.”

The Moellers have been well connected to Love INC of Sheboygan County since its inception as Justin has formed a close connection to Love INC of Sheboygan County through his volunteer efforts as a member of Plymouth Alliance Church.

“Justin started his involvement with Love INC about six years ago, shortly after they opened, by being a part of the moving ministry team,” Christy Moeller said. “He saw first hand the wonderful impact Love INC was having on our community. They are truly being the hands and feet of Jesus in Sheboygan County.

“As a business, we decided they would be a great non-profit organization to support through a fun event,” she said. “Love INC agreed and then this great event started. With COVID-19 impacting everyone over the past year and a half, we have especially seen how important Love INC is as they were there to support so many people in the community in a variety of ways. We want to raise as much awareness and money for them as we can during this event.”

Since launching in 2015, Love INC of Sheboygan County has operated a clearinghouse to respond to the needs of Sheboygan County neighbors with resources from local church ministries and the community.

The clearinghouse is a phone ministry staffed with trained volunteers from across Sheboygan County, representing all Christian denominations.

Love INC offers an opportunity for neighbors to break the cycle of hopelessness, connecting them with caring individuals who model Christian beliefs through their interactions.

Moeller is eager to once again play a large part in the fifth annual Putt Fore Love event.

“Harbor Pointe supports Love In the Name of Christ because they preserve and enhance the dignity of individuals in our community by providing services that enrich personal relationships, encourage spiritual growth, and promote self-reliance,” Christy Moeller said. “We want to see everyone in Sheboygan County live an abundant life.”

According to Sbrocco, the Putt Fore Love event plays a key role in kickstarting a wide range of Love INC of Sheboygan County programs and initiatives.

“Putt Fore Love is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy God’s creation along the shoreline of South Pier in Sheboygan,” Sbrocco said. “The ultimate goal of the event is to connect with our community by providing information on Love In the Name of Christ. Following the example of Jesus Christ, our programs equip our partner churches to offer life-changing opportunities to individuals facing life’s challenges.

“The focus of each ministry at Love INC is relationships filled with dignity and respect,” she said.

“We hope to raise $10,000 at the fifth annual Putt Fore Love event, so that we can continue our efforts through the local churches to walk alongside people in their time of need.”
