NORTH IS SIXTH AT STATE GOLF: Division 1 boys state champion Kettle Moraine dominated the meet in mid-June and the Golden Raiders finished in sixth place – eight strokes behind runner-up Homestead – at Trappers Turn in Wisconsin Dells.
It was the third trip to state in the last four seasons for the Golden Raiders, who were led by sophomore Mason Schmidtke. he tied for fifth with a 4-over-par 148 in the two-day event.
Senior Evan Spaulding placed 21st, sophomore Hogan Miller ended 25th, senior Nathan Hamann finished 66th and senior Parker Reinhart came in 93rd.
FOUR MAKE STATE TENNIS: North junior Jasper Delasanta and senior Ted Wind were seeded fifth in the Division 1 doubles tournament but were upset in the third round.
They lost to 12th-seeded Andrew LaBelle/Ryan LaBelle of Mukwonago, 6-2, 6-3, in the third round to finish with a 20-4 record.
In the first round, Delasanta/Wind had a bye. They beat Whitefish Bay’s Kevin Ji/Ben Schneider, 7-5, 3-6 (2) in Round 2.
Seniors Harry Stayer-Suprick/Connor Cleveland also were at state but they lost to Germantown’s Evan Sina/Dylan Shearer, 7-5, 2-6, (8) in the opening round.
TENNIS ANYONE? The Doug Opel Memorial – Sheboygan County Junior Tennis Championships will be held July 23-24 at South and is open to anyone 18 years old and under. There are several tournament divisions and the fee is $16. The deadline to register is July 19 (or this Monday to guarantee a t-shirt).

KUCK HEADS TO ALABAMA: Former North standout Dru Kuck has left the volleyball program at Kansas State and is transferring to Alabama.
The junior defensive specialist played in 36 matches over two years with the Wildcats, leading the team with 366 digs her freshman season.
She was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week in 2019 and was also named to the 2020-21 Academic All-Big 12 First Team.
