Dana Fish admits the recruiting process is a little stressful – but worth it.

“When you’re going through trying to get recruited and being seen by colleges, you have to send e-mails, do a lot of extra things,” she said. “I’m just glad I’ve gotten to where I am now.”

The North senior recently decided to play soccer at Valparaiso University because she says it is pretty close to home, it fits her academics (environmental engineering) and she likes the coaches and program.

She was also interested in three Division III schools, until she toured the campus in Indiana.

“I knew that’s where I wanted to be,” Fish said.

The third-year varsity forward led the Golden Raiders in goals (11) and ranked second in assists (four) in her first nine games.

“It’s gone quick,” said Fish, who made first-team all-FRCC as a sophomore. “I feel like the season just started and it’s already coming to a close. … With graduation, it’s kind of bittersweet and sad, almost, that it’s almost over.”
