The Sheboygan Yacht Club held its annual Sailing Banquet on Saturday, April 24th.   Skippers, club members and guests attended for dinner and the awards ceremony to celebrate the winners of a variety of reginal sailing races held during the 2020 season.  The regional races took place during several weekends last year and included the following place winners.

Hika Bay Full Crew, June 13th (7 boats raced) Bataleur 3rd, Runaway 2nd, Peerless 1st.

Oostburg Full Crew, July 11th (6 boats raced) Wicked 3rd, Peerless 2nd, Runaway 1st.

Hika Bay 2-Handed, August 1st (6 boats raced) Peerless 3rd, Slip Knot 2nd, Runaway 1st.

Sheboygan Manitowoc, August 15th (5 boats raced) Slip Knot 3rd, Peerless 2nd, Wicked 1st.

Manitwoc Sheboygan, August 16th (5 boats raced) Three Winds 3rd, Peerless 2nd, Wicked 1st.

Oostburg 2-Handed, September 12th (2 boats raced) Runaway 2nd, Peerless 1st.

After announcing the race winners, the Racing Committee Co-Chairs, Peter Mayer and Michael Knop presented the coveted Boat of the Year flag to the owner, Jason Bemis, and the crew of Peerless.

The Peerless is a Melges 30 built in 1996.

It has been enhanced for safety and performance in heavier wind ranges during offshore races and also excels in very light air conditions.

Additional noteworthy 2020 finishes include the winner of the Clipper Cup from Muskegon to Port Washington, and the Port Washington to Sheboygan fun race.

The Sheboygan Yacht Club is a member of The Lake Michigan Sail Racing Federation, The Lake Michigan Yachting Association and US Sailing.
