SHEBOYGAN — Triple Nickel Post 555, American Legion, announced that it will present Lieutenant David Poster of the Town of Wilson Fire Department with the Triple Nickel Outstanding Firefighter Award.
He has also been named the American Legion 2nd District Outstanding Firefighter and was recognized at the American Legion 2nd District conference in Horicon, WI on Saturday April 24, 2021.
This award is presented to an active, full-time paid, or volunteer certified firefighter who is a member of a municipal or county fire department. Individuals awarded this honor show selfless dedication to safety and community.
David served in the United States Navy as a Gas Turbine Mechanic and then as a Firefighter. He joined the Town of Wilson Fire Department in 2012 where he currently holds the rank of Lieutenant. David is also the Fire Department’s current training officer, Rapid Intervention Team leader, member of the Town of Wilson Fire Advisory Committee, and Member of the Sheboygan County Training Officers Association.
His service to the community includes Salvation Army bell ringing and assisting with their Ride for Life event, taking part in holiday parades, operating the Town of Wilson Survive Alive House, training children how to use fire extinguishers, assisting with the Childhood Burn Victim Poker Run, and representing the fire department at the Triple Nickel Trunk or Treat at Lakeshore Lanes event for children in the community.
