Free virtual symphonies scheduled

The Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra will begin its winter/spring season on February 13 with a Valentine-themed concert, featuring a world-renowned husband and wife vocal duo.

Amanda Majeski and Samuel Handley, accompanied by Emile Blasczyk on piano, will present a variety of love songs and show tunes on the Weill Center stage.

The event will be presented via Livestream, with no tickets sold due to the ongoing large event limitations. Patrons will be able to access the Livestream link free of charge through the SSO’s new website, which launched last week in conjunction with a new, more modern logo to better capture the energy and experience of attending an SSO performance.

The symphony will also present additional virtual concerts in March, April and May.

Each will feature different small group ensembles with appropriate social distancing measures in place for the musicians. All performances will be available on demand via the SSO’s YouTube channel after the Livestreamed performance.

Donations will be gratefully accepted to offset expenses for the season.

The SSO expects to resume in-person performances in fall, when it will begin auditioning conductors as part of its ongoing search for a new musical director.
