One dead in Sheboygan shooting

One man is dead and two people are in custody Thursday after a gunshot victim was reported on Sheboygan’s south side.

According to police, 23-year-old Michael Kirsch of Sheboygan died of his injuries at the scene. A shooting investigation has been opened for the killing on the 1000 block of Clara Avenue.

Authorities said they were first alerted around 2:20 p.m. Thursday and asked motorists and pedestrians to remain away from the scene.

Witnesses provided information regarding the suspect along with the suspect vehicle that had left the scene, police said. Shortly thereafter an 18 year old male and a 17 year old female were taken into custody. The male was placed in the Sheboygan County Detention Center on homicide related charges. The female was placed in the Detention Center on drug related charges.

Police said there is no threat to the public “as all of the subjects involved are known to each other.”

Police have not released the names of the suspects at this time. The case will be reviewed by the Sheboygan County District Attorney’s Office for a final charging decision.

The Sheboygan Police Department asked for anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
