To no surprise, Sheboygan Lutheran junior Jacob Ognacevic was named to the WBCA Division 5 All-State Team this morning.

The Crusaders, who won the state championship Saturday at the Kohl Center in Madison, were led by the future Division I player all season.

Ognacevic, who just received an offer from UW-Milwaukee, finished with a scoring average of 30.2 points per game and also grabbed 15.7 rebounds per contest en route to being named co-player of the year in the Big East Conference.

“He’s very agile and a slippery guy,” McDonell senior Cory Hoglund told Chippewa.com after his team lost to Lutheran in the state semifinals on Friday. “He was challenging.”

Marshfield Columbus Catholic coach Joe Konieczny agreed after watching Ognacevic end with 35 points and 19 rebounds in the final.

“(We) did an unsuccessful job of boxing out the big fella,” Konieczny said. “He had 35 and he was actually somebody we were trying to key on. We tried to jump with him too many times and really weren’t physical as far as boxing him out.”
