The Sheboygan South girls basketball team won its first game of the season Tuesday, 54-49, over visiting Manitowoc Lincoln.
The 1-17 Redwings, who had not won a regular-season game since Jan. 5 of last season, got 12 points (on 6-of-10 shooting) and 12 rebounds from Lindsey Horen.
Halle Boldt scored a team-high 15 points to go with three rebounds and three steals, and Kaitlyn Stricker and Abby Urben chipped in with nine points apiece.
Editor’s Note: In Tuesday’s edition of The Beacon (and online), there will be a feature story on second-year coach Sandy Botham, who previously ran the women’s program at UW-Milwaukee.
